{"id":19767,"date":"2024-03-20T18:41:40","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T17:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/isblue.fr\/?p=19767"},"modified":"2024-04-03T08:26:32","modified_gmt":"2024-04-03T06:26:32","slug":"silica-pim-creating-a-mediation-tool-about-silica-to-introduce-it-to-the-general-public","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/isblue.fr\/en\/news\/silica-pim-creating-a-mediation-tool-about-silica-to-introduce-it-to-the-general-public\/","title":{"rendered":"SILICA PIM: creating a mediation tool about silica to introduce it to the general public"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In January 2024, as part of a joint interdisciplinary project (PIM), a group of Masters students from UBO, UBS and ENSTA Bretagne developed an educational tool to inform the general public about the existence of silica in the universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Silica School is an online course created by <a href=\"https:\/\/www-iuem.univ-brest.fr\/lemar\/equipe\/sutton-jill\/?lang=en\">Dr Jill Sutton<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www-iuem.univ-brest.fr\/lemar\/equipe\/treguer-paul\/?lang=en\">Professor Paul Tr\u00e9guer<\/a> of the IUEM (University of Brest). It is an online learning experience (a small private online course, or SPOC) entitled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/isblue.fr\/en\/news\/learning-project\/silica-from-stardust-to-the-living-world\/\">Silica: from stardust to the living world<\/a>&#8221; which focuses on the role of silica through four major themes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Silica in the universe,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Silica in the ocean,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Silicifiers in the living world and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Silica in the future<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The students have shown great creativity by creating a video game in English.
