{"id":31202,"date":"2010-08-27T14:44:00","date_gmt":"2010-08-27T12:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/isblue.fr\/?p=31202"},"modified":"2025-10-20T14:51:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T12:51:14","slug":"blue-openlab-pim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/isblue.fr\/en\/news\/blue-openlab-pim\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue OpenLab PIM: Contributing to the Development of Open-Source Oceanographic Instrumentation for the Research of Tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Oceanographic instruments can be developed in a cost-effective and open-source manner, and deployed by citizens as part of participatory science programmes. Over the course of one week, from 23 to 27 June 2025, this PIM brought together all stakeholders to collectively design, prototype, document, and test these instruments at sea.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After an introduction to the key principles of open-source oceanography, participatory science, and the <em>maker culture<\/em>, as well as a short \u201cdatalogger\u201d training session, students worked in small groups throughout the week to develop four projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Integrating new functionalities into the current <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.fish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">KOSMOS camera<\/a><\/strong>, in collaboration with Ifremer and Konk Ar Lab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adapting the deployment of an <strong>underwater observatory<\/strong> for sailing vessels as part of the <em>LittObs<\/em> programme, with the association <em>Astrolabe Expeditions<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comparing <strong>two different flowmeter models<\/strong> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oceanopolis.com\/connaitre-nos-missions\/conservation\/objectif-plancton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Objectif Plancton<\/em> programme<\/a>, with the <em>Concarneau Marine Station<\/em> (MNHN) and <em>Oc\u00e9anopolis<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designing a <strong>data logger<\/strong> to study cliffs frequented by black-legged kittiwakes as part of the <em>SEDERISSA<\/em> monitoring project, with <em>LEMAR<\/em> (UBO\/IUEM)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery
