Supervised by <a href=\"https:\/\/isblue.fr\/actualites\/pim-eclat-oi-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Jean-Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Charpentier<\/strong> (\u00c9cole Navale)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/feriel-abderrahmane-01036a1a2\/?originalSubdomain=fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Feriel Abderrahmane<\/strong> (IRENAV\/ESTIA-R)<\/a>, the workshop focused on imagining and analysing possible pathways toward <strong>electricity self-sufficiency for the island of Ouessant by 2030<\/strong>, taking into account economic, social, and environmental factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ouessant Island currently relies on diesel to produce its electricity, but aims to transition to <strong>100% renewable energy<\/strong>. This ambitious goal raises key questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>What is the optimal energy mix between wind, solar, and tidal power?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which storage solutions (hydrogen, batteries, or others) are most suitable?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can these changes be implemented while ensuring local support and minimising disruption to residents\u2019 daily lives (transport, communications, researchers and professionals:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Youcef Belkhier<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irdl.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IRDL<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Christophe Claramunt<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecole-navale.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00c9cole Navale<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nicolas Boillet<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.umr-amure.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AMURE<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rhoda Fofack-Garcia<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.france-energies-marines.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">France \u00c9nergie Marine<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These experts provided essential scientific and technical insights to guide the participants\u2019 analyses and proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop unfolded in several stages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Functional analysis<\/strong>: identifying the island\u2019s specific energy needs and understanding its technical and environmental constraints<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>T<strong>echno-economic analysis<\/strong>: assessing the costs, feasibility, and impacts of different technologies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scenario design<\/strong>: developing energy independence scenarios integrating production, storage, and distribution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Final pitch preparation<\/strong>: summarising the group\u2019s findings and presenting proposals to a panel of specialists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Working in small teams, students developed several <strong>energy autonomy scenarios for Ouessant<\/strong>, which they presented during a <strong>final pitch<\/strong> and at the <strong>2025 PIM Forum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Discover the posters created by the ENERG\u2019ENEZ PIM and communication skills while deepening their understanding of the <strong>complex challenges of the energy transition<\/strong>.
