Throughout the Fêtes maritimes de Brest 2024 from 12 to 17 July, the ImmerSea RADE project was presented in the ‘Ocean Protection’ village. Using virtual reality, festival-goers were able to take part in a journey back in time to understand the changes that have shaped the Brest roadstead as we know it today. Visitors could choose between 4 different periods:
Developed as part of the ImmerSea Lab project, this mediation system was upgraded at the June 2024 InterDev PIM thanks to the collaboration of students from the UBO, UBS, Ensta Bretagne and IMT-Atlantique. Some of them were present throughout the Fêtes Maritimes to welcome the public and guide participants through the virtual environment.
On Monday 15 July, Mike Horn and Marine Barnerias, the sponsors of the ‘Protection of the Oceans’ Village, visited the ImmerSEA RADE stand and talked to Nina Gien, a geosciences student at the Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer (IUEM) at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale, about the role of scientific outreach to the general public.
