REFLEX’ PIM: Developing Reflection on Skills and Career Paths to Enhance Orientation and Employability

From 6 to 10 January 2025, twelve students took part in the REFLEX’ PIM, supervised by Riwalenn Ruault (ISblue/UBO) and Grégory Charrier (LEMAR/UBO). Over the course of a week, this PIM offered a dedicated space for reflecting on personal and professional skills, helping participants to better understand their career paths and refine their professional aspirations.

The REFLEX’ workshop began with a fundamental question: “What are my skills?” A seemingly simple question, but crucial for navigating the job market with confidence. Through a combination of interactive workshops and introspective exercises, students were guided to:

  • Identify their skills, whether derived from academic, professional, or personal experiences
  • Learn to articulate them clearly to better showcase them to recruiters or in professional projects
  • Become aware of their strengths and areas for development

Participants experienced a varied and dynamic approach, alternating between individual and collective reflection:

  • Reflective writing workshops
  • Creative brainstorming sessions
  • Learning how to build a portfolio

They were also occasionally supported by Ludovic Bougis (LBO Conseils) in sessions on improvisation, listening, and eloquence, and had the opportunity to practise in mock one-to-one interviews with HR professionals.

At the end of the week, they produced a “tutorial” video advising their peers on which skills to highlight during job interviews.

Through this PIM, students learned to:

  • Step back and reflect on their achievements to better anticipate opportunities
  • Build a sustainable approach to career reflection
  • Connect personal and professional aspirations to current labour market challenges
