ISblue in Transition Convention #4 – A Day of Co-Construction

The fourth edition of the ISblue in Transition Convention (CIT) took place on Thursday 5 March 2026 at ENSTA, on the Brest campus. The theme of the day was co-construction. Socio-environmental challenges affect every aspect of society, so how can we cooperate to co-design educational pathways that equip students and engineering students to address these issues?

The Morning Session

Five speakers were welcomed in an original format combining a round table and a “world café”. In small groups, participants explored different forms of cooperation:

  • between teaching teams and students, presented by two students from ENSTA;
  • between educational teams and institutions, presented by Nathalie Richard from UBO Open Factory;
  • between citizens and teaching teams, presented by Michel Briand, a key contributor to collaborative commons initiatives in Brittany;
  • between socio-economic stakeholders and educational institutions, presented by Wilfried Bourdon, Director of the FORTEIM project at CINAV.

The Afternoon Session

Two original workshops were organised to put collaborative methods into practice:

  • A collective reading workshop (“arpentage”), a collaborative reading method designed to encourage critical and systemic reflection on a publication.
  • A foresight workshop, which explored in a playful and interactive way eight different approaches to cooperation that could be applied to training and higher education scenarios.

As with every edition of the event, participants were also invited to share experiences and initiatives developed by peers to integrate Socio-Ecological Transformation (SET) issues into teaching and training programmes. This time, ENSTA took part in the exercise, and as always, the discussions generated rich and thought-provoking exchanges.
