Blue Training Horizons / Socio-Environmental Transformations

The Blue Training Horizons initiative is a pedagogical support and mediation programme dedicated to transformations in teaching and learning practices. These transformations aim to address the challenges of Socio-Environmental Transformations (SET) in the field of marine science and technology.

Blue Training Horizons builds on the experience gained through flagship experiments carried out during Phase 1 of ISblue (2018–2023) in the field of education for Socio-Ecological Transformations (SET), such as the “Holi-D Blue” project led by ENSTA between 2021 and 2023, as well as university teaching initiatives such as the ISblue COP/Science and Society module (Master 2 SML course, Université Bretagne Occidentale).

In this context, the objectives of the project are to:

  • support education stakeholders (trainers, programme coordinators and governance bodies) in these transformations;
  • evolve programmes and curricula in a systemic way across three dimensions: interdisciplinarity, interculturality and innovation, through both pedagogy and research into socio-ecological transformation processes.

If you are a trainer or part of a teaching team involved in Master’s-level programmes within ISblue, and socio-environmental challenges are of interest to you, you may have identified an event (conference, symposium, etc.) or training course that you would like to attend, Blue Training Horizons can provide financial support for your participation, in return for your commitment to share the new knowledge you acquire with colleagues across the ISblue network.
