From January 8 to 12, 2024, fifteen master’s students in marine science and technology took part in an intensive five-day workshop to design an art exhibition on the theme of the marine microcosm. For this art and science training, the students were guided by artist Iglika Christova and researcher Christine Paillard (CNRS).
After collecting biological samples in the field and observing them in the laboratory, the students carried out artistic and graphic experiments that ultimately led to the creation of a collective exhibition. Their artistic “investigation” and reflections on this Art & Science approach were enriched throughout the week by exchanges with various ISblue researchers.
Their collective artwork, which expressed the interdependence of ecosystems, the unpredictability of living organisms, and, more broadly, the health of the oceans, was presented at the RESSAC Festival, held from March 19 to 23, 2024, at the La Pérouse Library in Plouzané.
