OBJECTIVE

ISblue aims to help train the next generation of innovators and leaders in marine science and technology.

This new HUB call for projects will support ISblue students in taking initiatives and learning by doing, using their skills and creativity to carry out practical, innovative and professionalising micro-projects.

These projects will be supported and carried out within the common framework of the ISblue HUB, giving students access via this call to material resources, consumables, bonuses and small equipment to support their initiatives and carry out their projects in conjunction with local socio-economic stakeholders and programmes.

These projects may take place in places made available by the establishments or even on the HUB’s offices at the Pôle Numérique Brest Iroise. Students will be able to receive support from the ISblue HUB manager throughout their projects.

WHO CAN APPLY

All students attached to ISblue establishments at Masters 1 and 2 level and engineers can apply individually or in student associations.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

These student micro-projects will have to show creativity and feasibility as well as socio-economic potential and value. The eligibility criteria must cover several of the following aspects:

– The scientific relevance and inclusion of the micro-project within one or more ISblue themes;

– Involvement of one or more socio-economic stakeholders, associations and civil society (manufacturers, innovative SMEs, start-ups, associations, foundations, local authorities, etc.);

– The inclusion of a multi-disciplinary and/or sustainability dimension in the issues and/or organisation of the project itself;

– Projects linked to training, inter-institutional projects and projects linked to partner infrastructures (fablabs, laboratories) will be given priority;

– The quality and originality of the partnership.

Interested students who have successfully completed their proof of concept thanks to the HUB will then be able to apply to the “incubation” (UBO (Fabrik ta Pépite, Cap Avenir), IMT Atlantique, ENSTARTUP) and “acceleration” (Technopole Brest Iroise, FrenchTech) programmes available to them regionally or nationally. Ifremer also offers the Octo’pousse competition to select candidates wishing to develop their project with them.

TIMETABLE AND FUNDING

The call is open on a rolling basis with an annual budget of 50 K€.
This funding will provide students with a maximum of 10 K€ per project submitted, in support of the needs expressed (e.g.: funding for access to specific means of experimentation, purchase of consumables and small equipment, analysis costs, internship gratifications, excluding salary and indirect costs), enabling students to conduct their project.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

You will be asked to attach the following documents to your application:

– CV of the student(s) applying

– Letter of support from the socio-economic partner (in case of a collaborative project)

EVALUATION OF APPLICATIONS

The complete projects will be analysed as they come in by a jury composed of members of the HUB ISblue working group. The feedback of the evaluation will be sent within 1 month.

The grants are awarded according to the financial envelope available for the year and according to the evaluation criteria above.
